Great job last night at home for our RH mod wrestling GREEN team as they hosted Pittsford, Brockport, and the Greece Storm wrestling teams at Roth. Matches were won by Layne Watkins, Maddy Beyor, Ben Parish, Ethan Haitz, Elsie Hughes, Jayden Dang, Sebastian Ong, Bryce Samuels, Blake Schultz, Benjamin Lawson, Isaiah Selby, and Mason Monson. Great job wrestlers!
Next Wednesday the RH mod wrestling GOLD team will finish out the last match of the season at Roth

SPORTS
Mod A Basketball team took the win last night versus Pittsford Sutherland 100-35! The whole team played exceptional team defense which led to fast break points. Offensively the whole team put up points but it was led by Perry Taylor with 19 points, Josh McFarland with 12 points and Austin Champion with 11 points. Great defensive game from Carter Johnson and Quinzell Ashford with 13 steals combined! Next game will be home at Roth Wednesday against Victor at 5:30pm.

Tuesday 2/3 Karaoke Club will be meeting in the auditorium right after school. The theme for this month is love songs and duets, and as a reminder, all students and staff are invited to come participate or watch.

Matches were won by Hayden Collins, Austin Colon, Luka Payne, Kendall Kelly, Drake Nedelvoski-Nelson, Jack Bennett, Jayden Dang, Rafie Rabbani, Bryce Burrows, and Kyla McCollough. Great job wrestlers! This Friday the GREEN team will be on the road at Spencerport.
Also this weekend, our Modified Cheer team placed second at their regional competition. An excellent showing for our Cheer squad!
And last night, our Boys Mod basketball team defeated Irondequoit, 46 to 22. Roth 7th grader Jaxon Fuchs contributed 9 points in the winning effort!

Girls Mod basketball had a close game against Brighton last night, and our girls won 35-29.
Presleigh Taylor (prez-lee) scored 8 points. Emma Perry scored 13 points. And, Jules Reardon scored 5 points.
The whole team played amazing defense! Great job ladies!

RH Girls Basketball (Green) vs. Canandaigua
RH Green fell to Canandaigua by a final score of 37–25. The team competed hard throughout the game, with Emma Perry (Roth) leading the scoring with 11 points.
Jules Reardon (Burger) added 9 points, Alicja Dinsmore (Roth) contributed 4 points in the effort, and Zuri James contributed 1 point and played tremendous defense.

RH Mod A took on Webster Thomas last night and unfortunately did not get it done. 74-68 Webster, however the team is looking better each and every game. Last night we had a strong game from Perry Taylor with 19 points, JJ Ingram with 14 points and Quinzell Ashford with 12 points. RH takes on Penfield on Wednesday.

Last night Mod A Green Basketball had their second game of the season and took a tough loss to Pittsford Mendon. RH started the game off slow but continued to fight there way back in the game and brought it within 10 points. Perry Taylor finished the game with 14 points and Quinzell Ashford finished with 6 points. Next game will be Away vs Fairport on Friday.

Roth showed great school spirit the last week in 2025! WEB Leaders recognize Ms. Schult’s and Mr. Broz’s classes for strong participation, with Mr. DelVecchio’s class as runner-up. Once again, Mrs. Kramer’s class took first place with an impressive 83% participation rate, and will receive a treat for their second consecutive win.

Get ready to unleash your creativity and holiday spirit! We’re excited to announce the Gingerbread House Competition at Roth Jr. High! Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Swimmers who concluded their season on Friday at Sectionals with an 8th place team finish (12 year high). 7 of the 13 team members qualified as individuals for the meet with 8 competing in relay events. 8th grade diver Keslee Yantachka finished 15th, junior Aubree Yantachka finished 16th in the 200 yard Freestyle, and 7th grade Makayla Hayward took 11th in the 50 yard freestyle.
The Medley Relay team of Cassiday Stasko, Makena Brady, Carrigan Shaw and Brooke Harper took 8th; 200 Freestyle Relay was 7th with Keslee, Makena, Makayla and Aubree, and the 400 Free Relay took 8th with Keslee, Makayla, Cassiday and Aubree.

Congratulations to the Varsity swimmers who opened Sectional competition this past Saturday in the diving championships and swimming preliminaries last night.
8th grader Keslee Yantachka scored 15th in diving for the first individual points for RH in over 6 years, followed by Tia Castle as first alternate and with 7th grader Makayla Hayward and junior Aubree Yantachka qualifying for Friday swim finals. These three will be joined in the relay events by Cassidy Stasko, Makena Brady, Carrigan Shaw and Brooke Harper with all three relay teams advancing to the A finals.

We are excited to announce that our partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology via their STEP program is coming back to Roth. After-school tutoring will be available for students who participate in the STEP program. Kierra McInnis will be facilitating our student workshops. We are grateful to have her continue this fantastic after-school partnership, especially for our science, technology, engineering, and math-interested students. Some STEP programming is only available for students who are registered through RIT. For registration information (including the STEP application), students should visit Kierra McInnis in the Roth Library.

Congrats to our RH JV Football Royal Comets as they defeated Monroe at home last night in a thrilling final game of the season with an ending score of 32-28. Touchdowns were scored by Ayush Bharati, Kaiden Thwaits, Mikey Mistretta for 2 rushing touchdowns, and Nazir McCloud for a pick 6 on defense. Shoutout to the whole Royal Comet defense in the 2nd half for only allowing one score from Monroe. Some great plays and defensive stops were made by Liam Potwin, Isaiah McDonald, Noah Hunt, Sayvion Cox, Isaiah Ashford, Omari Wallace, Joey Cenzi, Josh Harris, Michael Liwa, and Steven Kuriatnyk.
Special shoutout to Noah Valenti for the game ending onside kick that was covered by Cameron DeCamilla.

Our modified cross country team had a phenomenal day at their Saturday meet in Parma Park, for the RH-Hilton Royal Cadet Invitational. Every single girl on the team ran their personal best time of the season for 2-mile courses, with standout performances from Isabella Clark (15:10), Nagma Dhimal (16:51), and Tianna Taylor (19:21). On the boys side, Max Amesbury (19:56), Drake Nedelkovski-Nelson (16:23), and Ivan Mushi (13:41) all ran phenomenal races for their team, keeping it competitive in their 211-person race! The modified cross country team has their last race of the season on Friday at Parma Park, make sure to wish our runners luck ahead of their season finale!

The library is kicking off our first contests of the year — the Pumpkin Picasso Contest and the Candy Corn Contest!
For the Pumpkin Picasso Contest, it’s first come, first served. From October 16th to 28th, swing by the library during study hall to paint your very own pumpkin masterpiece! The top voted pumpkin design will win a sweet treat!
If painting isn’t your thing, join the Candy Corn Contest! Stop by the circulation desk to check out the giant jar of candy corn and guess how many pieces are inside. The closest guess without going over wins a prize!

The Girls Varsity Swim team closed out their final home meet of the season with a 105-65 win over Midlakes, raising their record to 9-8 on the year with one contest to go. This win guarantees the team of their first non-losing season in nearly 15 years. 2 new Sectional qualifiers came thru with Cassidy Stasko in the 100 backstroke and Aubree Yantachka in the 200 and 500 freestyles.
Today the Divers will be traveling to Churchville Chili for the Monroe County Diving Championships and team will travel to Churchville on Tuesday for their last dual meet of the season. Well done ladies on a terrific turn around season!

The RH Green Girls Soccer team beat Spencerport 2-0 improving their record to 5-1-3 last night! RH was lead by Danny Stuknyuk hitting a loose corner kick in the box for RH. 10 minutes later Avery Voss placed a huge shot from outside the 18 in the upper corner to go ahead 2-0. RH held on for the win with tough defense from Adriana Gianvecchio, Alexa Ademovic, Violet Taylor and Maliah Mitchell. Collins Ely, Sariah Heygood, Sammy Gorski, Natalie Bartz, Sophia Jordan, Mila Cravatta, Adrina Bista, Molly Babcock and Emma Schoener all had their best games of the season. Way to go Ladies!

Today for Hispanic Heritage Month we recognize Franklin Chang-Diaz. Mr. Chang-Diaz has been on seven space shuttle missions and was the first Hispanic in the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving moved their record up to 8-7 and ensured themselves a move out of the cellar of Monroe County Division 1 with their dual win this past Friday versus Sweet Home (Section 6) and Greece. Thursday night, your RH Lady Comets mod BLACK volleyball team took on Webster. This team showed perseverance in their first 2 sets and got the win for each of them as well as the 3rd and 4th set. The serves delivered by the Royal Comets were incredible. Genesis Rivera, Ace Dulal, Evie Lepel and Rowan Grunett showed their jump serves. Juliet Nudds, Mila Gordan and Ari Blavis Showed consistency and accuracy with their serves.Sydney McKee, Ace Dulal, Elsie Hughes and Salina Adhikar were hustling to complete 3 hit combinations. The Boys Green Soccer Team defeated Webster Thomas last night on the turf, 3-0 to go 6 and 2. Julian Bechard-Cortez had another shut-out game in the goal. Tinh Nguyen, Rojan Chhetri and Gary Wu all had goals and Landon Saysamone had two assists. Ryan OConner, Reilly Flores, Eli Kroening, Owen Rockwell, and Kieran Cook played strong on defence. THe Modified Girl's Volleyball teams faced off in a nail biter of a game yesterday. While the Black team walked away with a win thanks to the amazing serves of Rowan Grunette, the Gold team really rallied and a great game was played by both teams.

The R-H Green Girls Soccer Team defeated Hilton last night 4-2. Congratulations to Natalie Bartz on her first Hat Trick scoring three goals for the Royal Comets! Sam Gorski also scored for R-H. Adriana Gianvecchio, Violet Taylor and Maliyah Mitchell held up a strong back line while Molly Babcock, Avery Voss and Collins Ely were amazing up front. R-H moves to 4-1-2 on the season! Way to go ladies!
The girls mod A tennis team defeated a solid Webster Schroeder team yesterday 6-1. Great play from Mila Gartland, Ellie Biro, Maddy Allen, Avi Jones, Saatvikaa Thevasterdaren, Harveen Kaur, Journey Thomas, Ari Barrett Ortiz, Jessica lai, and Janice Lin. The girls are 5-3-1 overall!

The R-H green girls soccer team defeated Brockport last night, 3 to 0. Goals were scored by Natalie Bartz, Collins Ely and Adrina Bista. Other players who impacted the game were Sophia Jordan, Adriana Gianvecchio, sariah Haywood, Emma Schoener, Alexa Ademovic and Maliyah Mitchell. R-H improves their record to 3-1-2! Way to go ladies!!
Last night the modified football team travelled to Brighton and got the win 27-7! Congratulations to the team for an excellent performance on both sides of the football. Next week they have a home game Tuesday versus Pittsford at 5pm in Werner Kleeman Stadium!

Congratulations to the Modified BLACK Girls Volleyball team on a great set of matches last night. If you want to see a team that hustles, works together and is supportive of one another ----this team is it!!!! Salina Adhikar, Mila Gordon, Evie Lepel, Juliet Nudds, Ari Blaivas, Aenja Heganovic and Genesis Easton showed undying hustle last night on the court and contributed to many 3 hit combinations in their match up against HF-L. Friday night the Girls Modified BLACK Volleyball team took on East Irondequoit. This team represented Rush-Henrietta well. Rowan Grunett got her groove back and nailed her serves all night long. Rowan also exhibited tremendous hustle and was a great contributor to several 3 hit combinations. Tonight, the Lady Royal Comets take on Honeoye Falls-Lima. Best wishes, ladies!
Congratulations to the varsity girls swimmers taking 2 wins this weekend over Dansville and Hornell in Hornell, moving to 6-4 on the season. In a championship format meet our girls took 390 points over Hornells 353 and Dansvilles 284. R-H was led by Keslee Yantachkas wins in the diving and 50 freestyle, wins in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays (Yantachka, Makena Brady, Makayla Hayward and Mika Afrima(200) and Carrigan Shaw (400)). Other wins came from Hayward (100 breaststroke) Shaw (500 freestyle) and many top-4 scoring finishes from the team.

Modified cross country competed in the McQuaid Invitational this past Saturday, the largest cross country meet in the entirety of North America! R-H saw much success there, with Sawyer Cornaire placing 3rd in the class AAA large school girls modified race with a time of 9:47, placing her at 8th out of 712 total girls modified finishers.
Christopher Vicente placed 35th in the class AAA boys modified race with a time of 9:40, placing him at 79th out of 954 total boys modified finishers. Other top R-H racers on the day included Presleigh Taylor (24th place), Isabella Clark (75th place), Ryan Jentsch (49th place), Ivan Mushi (94th place), and Cole Truax (105th place). Congratulations to all modified cross country runners on their success at McQuaid!
Congrats to our JV football team on a thrilling 27-24 win over UPrep at home this past Saturday which puts them at 3-1 on the season. Getting in the end zone for the Royal Comets was Tristan Jeffries, Evan Mangone for not one… but TWO touchdowns, and Aayush Bharati for the game winning catch. Mikey Mistretta also helped to march the ball down the field at running back. Great defense was played all around. Shout out to our defensive playmakers Luis Colon, Michael Liwa, Liam Potwin, Sayvion Cox, Isaiah McDonald, Julian Booth, Omari Wallace, Nazir McCloud, and Mah’Khi Gray.
The JV Royal Comets football team will be on the road this Saturday to play Pittsford.

The Boys Green Soccer team played a great game against Pittsford Barker Rd. School and lost in a 2nd half goal 2-1. The boys played well and had many chances to put more points on the board. They play Calkins Rd School on Saturday at Roth. Game starts at 9:30AM. Come out and support this great team.
Girls Varsity Swims evened up their season to a 4-4 record last night with a 99-67 win at Eastridge HS. Divers Tia Castle and Keslee Yantachka each solidified their sectional qualifications by going 1-2 with Season best scores; Keslee also taking first in the 50 Freestyle with a Season best race. 7th grader Makayla Hayward won her 2 individual and relay events, with Makena Brady and Carrigan Shaw each taking a first and second individually to secure the win. Next the team will head to Hornell and Dansville on Saturday for an opportunity to push the team record up above .500.

- Last night the Mod BLACK Girls Volleyball team took on East Irondequoit. Despite playing against some players from a higher level ranking....the Lady Royal Comets were still victorious! Rowan Grunett had incredible serving accuracy and power last night. Way to go and congrats.
- The Boys Green Soccer team won 5-2 against Canandaigua. The defense played well and our midfield and strikers were relentless. Goals scored by Sajan Magar, Gabe Casaverde, and Ryan Dhakar. Julian Bechard Corso had some great saves in goal to maintain the 3-point lead. Great 3-0 start to the season boys!

Sign ups will be located outside of Mrs. Pontillo's room, room 120. Membership to these clubs are on a first come first serve basis. Great win on the road last night for our Royal Comet JV football team with a score of 28-21 against Aquinas. Shoutout to our touchdown scorers Tristan Jeffries off of a kick return, Evan Mangone, Kaiden Thwaits, and Mikey Mistretta on his first career touchdown. All around great defense was played with help from Luis Colon, Max Koppers, Sayvion Cox, Omari Wallace, Isaiah McDonald, Liam Potwin, Josh Harris, Julian Booth And Mahkai Gray. The Royal Comets JV football team have a quick turn around and play at home vs UPrep this Saturday at 9:30am. Come out and support!

- The R-H girls Green Soccer team defeated Greece Athena 3-0 last night in a hard fought win. Sam Gorski scored two goals and Sariah Haygood scored one. Collins Ely had an assist and Emma Schoener kept a clean sheet in goal with 13 saves!! Other amazing plays are created by Mila Cravatta, Alexa Ademovic, Natalie Bartz and Adrina Bista. Way to go ladies!!!

- Thank you to all of the students and families who came out to last night’s Open House Block Party. It was a lot of fun for everyone involved. Special shout out to 9th-grader Bensen Cruz, who helped set up tents, move tables, and make sure that all of the department tents were ready to go when families arrived!

- Today is the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month! Today we recognize Celia Cruz. Celia Cruz was known as the "Queen of Salsa." She won seven Grammy awards for her music.
- The girls mod A tennis team defeated Webster Thomas Friday 4-3. Both Mila Gartland and Ellie Biro won their 3rd match of the year! Great play from Aviana Jones, Madeline Allen, Arya Ortiz-Barret. Journey Thomas, and Janice Lin. The ladies are 2-0!
- Friday evening, your R-H modified BLACK Volleyball team took on Honeoye Falls-Lima. Your lady Royal Comets came out ready to play and certainly showed their skills----winning 2 matches. The 3-hit combinations were impressive and exciting. All of the Royal Comet squad had impressive play. A few stand outs--- outstanding serving Genesis Rivera, Rowan Grunett, Aishwarya Dulal, Elise Hughes, Selina Adhiker, Evie Lepel and Genesis Easton, Excellent 3 hit combinations and hustle by Juliet Nudds, Aneja Heganovic, Aishwarya Dulal, Mila Gordon, Arianna Blaivas and Sydney McKee. Impressive performance, ladies----way to represent!!!!!!

- Did you know it’s not too early to secure your yearbook? Roth Junior High yearbooks are available to pre-order now at a 10% discount until Tuesday, September 30. For more information, stop in to one of the assistant principals' offices.
- Roth’s Homecoming Dance is Thursday, October 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This first dance of the year is open to Roth Junior High students who are in academic, attendance, and disciplinary good-standing. Tickets are $10 each, and will be sold during lunches the week before.
- The Varsity Girls Swim team opened the year in a home tri-meet versus Letchworth/Perry and Marcus-Whitman schools. In an exciting meet that came down to the final race, Letchworth pulled off the win 88-87 as R-H dealt with a last minute injury, but the Comets still earned their first win of the season 109-60 over Marcus Whitman. Numerous Personal Bests and sectional cuts were earned by the group, with McKayla Hayward taking 2 events, Makena Brady earning her Sectional cuts and Keslee Yantachka earning 2 cuts as well. The team looks to put themselves into a winning record for the first time in years with their match versus Gates Chili on Thursday at the SHS, 5:15 start time.

- The R-H Girls Green Soccer team lost a close game last night at Spencerport. Spencerport took an early lead with two goals but R-H hung in there. R-H leveled the game 2-2 on two goals from Natalie Bartz and Molly Babcock. R-H then took the lead just after halftime with another goal by Natalie Bartz. R-H held the lead at 3-2 until Spencerport was able to rally three goals in the last 5 minutes to take the win. R-H Green is home on Wednesday vs. Spencerport. Great game ladies!!

We’d like to give a big shoutout to the R-H JV Royal Comets football team, who came away with an impressive 21–0 victory at the home opener on the turf against the Penfield Patriots!
On offense, Evan Mangone led the way with two touchdowns, and Tristan Jeffries added another to seal the win. The Comets’ defense was unstoppable, holding Penfield scoreless and racking up four interceptions—one each by Evan Mangone, Tristan Jeffries, Mah’Ki Gray, and Sayvion Cox.
A special recognition goes to 7th grader Michael Mistretta, who stepped up and had a great game at running back.
Congratulations to the JV Royal Comets on a dominant performance! Keep up the hard work!
